Disclaimer
is an educational project. It shows estimates and summaries built from public data. It is not tax, legal, financial or voting advice, and nothing here creates a professional relationship. For decisions that matter, check the official source or a qualified professional.
- Estimates, not filings. The tax receipt spreads your tax across the federal budget in proportion to spending. Tax dollars are not traced to programs, and about a quarter of federal spending is financed by borrowing.
- Tables change. Tax brackets, credits, benefit amounts and poverty guidelines are updated every year. Figures may be out of date or contain errors. Check the linked source before relying on a number.
- Rounded data. Spending line items and historical shares are rounded estimates, rescaled so each chart adds to 100%. Treat them as accurate to within a few percent.
- Public records are context. A campaign donation or a lobbying filing does not prove influence or wrongdoing. Lobbying records show who hired lobbyists and what they spent, not which official a lobbyist met.
- Election information. Calls in the election tracker are automated guesses from public sources until officials certify results.
- Not a government site. is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any government agency, candidate, party or campaign. Agency names are used only to identify sources.
Sources
All figures come from the public sources below. Each page also lists its own sources in the footer. Dates show when the data on this site was last built.

Method notes
- Federal spending: approximate outlays for fiscal year 2024 (about $6.75 trillion), compiled from Treasury, OMB and CBO data. Revenue was about $4.92 trillion.
- Tax tables: 2025 and 2026 federal brackets, standard deductions and the Social Security wage base as published by the IRS and SSA.
- ZIP code matching: a ZIP code can cover more than one district. Matches use the share of a ZIP's land area, not population.
- Dataset credit: Wikipedia (CC BY-SA) and Google News headlines feed the election tracker's automated calls. Map boundaries come from the U.S. Census Bureau and the us-atlas project, and 2024 county results from a public GitHub dataset.

Government data is generally in the public domain, but each source can have its own terms and attribution rules, and some datasets (for example Wikipedia content) carry their own licenses. Privacy
- What you type stays with you. Income, tax, ZIP and other values you enter are used in your browser to do the math. They are not sent to our server. A few settings (your profile numbers, theme choice and any ad choice) are saved in your browser's local storage so the tools can remember them. Clear your browser data or use private browsing to remove them.
- No accounts, no analytics. This site does not use accounts, analytics or advertising cookies unless you accept ads (see below).
- ZIP lookups are local. Your ZIP code is matched against data files stored on this site. No address is requested anywhere.
- Normal server logs. Like any website, the host records technical details of each request, such as your IP address, the page requested and your browser type, for security and troubleshooting.
- No third-party requests. Fonts, scripts, images and data files are all served from this site. Links you click open other sites with their own policies. Donations are handled by Ko-fi on its own site (the donate button is a plain link), and we never see your payment details. Donations are voluntary support for the project and are not tax-deductible. The company money trail and bill tracker tools, when run on a server, ask public government sites for data about the company or bill you typed.
- Children. This site is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information.
- Your choices. Use browser settings to block or clear storage. To ask a question about privacy, use the contact below.
Advertising, sponsors and donations
- Sponsor line. A clearly labelled "Sponsored" message may appear in the footer. It is a plain text link with no tracking, marked as a paid placement.
- Ads. If display ads from Google are turned on, they appear only after you choose "Allow ads", only on pages that never hold personal data (not the tax, paycheck, benefit, Social Security or local budget tools), and inside an isolated frame that cannot read anything saved by this site. They may use cookies or similar technology to show and measure ads. You can choose "No thanks" and the site works the same. You can also manage Google ad settings at adssettings.google.com.
- Independence. Sponsors and advertisers do not control the data, calculations or what is said about any candidate, company or party.
- Donations help cover hosting and data costs. They are not tax-deductible unless stated otherwise.
